BRIGADIER GENERAL BAINZE HARUNA MOHAMMED was born at Gawu in Gurara Local Government Area, Niger State. He completed his elementary education at Local Education Primary School Gawu in 1976 and proceeded to Government Secondary School Kagara, Niger State from 1976 to 1981 where he obtained West African School Certificate. Mohammed attended to Zungeru College of Advanced Studies Bida, 1981 - 1982. In 1982, he was admitted into University of Sokoto (now Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto), and graduated in 1987 with B.Sc degree in Geography.

He attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria 1992 - 1993, University of Maiduguri, 2000 - 2004 and Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu – Ode, 2007 - 2008. He holds Masters Degrees in Library and Information Science (MLS), (ABU - 1993), Masters in Public Administration (MPA), (UNIMAID - 2003), Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Studies (PGDSS), (UNIMAID - 2004) and Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDED), (TASUED - 2008). He is awaiting PhD in Public Administration.

Brigadier General Mohammed was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Nigerian Army Education Corps on 4 October 1989 and rose to the rank of Brigadier General in 2015. He attended Direct Short Service Commission /Quarter Master Course (DSSC/QM 2/90), Basic Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC) Officers Development Course, Advanced NAEC Officers Development Course, Basic Systems Approach to Training and Curriculum (SAT & CUR) Course, Training Development Advisers (TDA) Course, NAEC Officers Executive Management Course and National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

He was an Instructor in Nigerian Military School (1989 - 1995) and Warrant Officer’s Academy (1995 - 1999). He was the Brigade Education Officer, 21 Armoured Brigade Maiduguri (1999 - 2003), Acting Commandant, Command Day Secondary School Ede (2003 - 2004), Deputy College Librarian, Armed Forces Command And Staff College (AFCSC) - 2004, Research Officer, Institute of Army Education (IAE), Commandant Command Day Secondary Schools Kaduna and Abuja and Command Secondary School Makurdi. He was also Chief of Staff, Nigerian Army School of Education (NASE), College Librarian AFCSC, Deputy Chief of Staff Grade 1 HQ NAEC and subsequently Chief of Staff Headquarters, Nigerian Army Education Corps (2011 – Feb 2014). He was Director, Department of History Research and Archives, National Defence College (NDC), Commandant Nigerian Army Language Institute (NALI) Ovim, Senior Defence Fellow (SDF) and Directing Staff (DS) NIPSS. Brigadier General Mohammed was also Acting Corps Commander, Nigerian Army Education Corps.

He is a Member National Institute (mni) and a member of Association for Information and Management Science of Nigeria (AIFMS). He is honoured with Forces Service Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS) and Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Member Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (MTRCN), Training Support Medal (TSM) and Corps Medal of Honour (CMH). He is married and blessed with children. His hobbies include reading, jogging and nature watching.
